The 6th annual Aultsville Winter Filmfest will take place February 17 to 19 with all screenings taking place at Aultsville Theatre. Passes are now on sale at the Civic Complex box office (613-938-9400). The first four films have been selected with two additional titles to be added.

The festival will highlight some of the best international and independent films of the past year as well as screen short films by local students and artists before each feature.

The initial titles include the critically acclaimed “The Tree of Life,” the French comedy “Potiche,” “When We Leave” from Turkey and “Vincere” from Italy.

“The Tree of Life” from director Terrence Malick won the top prize at the last Cannes film festival and stars Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and Sean Penn.

“Potiche” from director Francois Ozon is a period comedy starring Catherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu. “When We Leave” is a Turkish/German co-production concerning families, new beginnings and honour killings. “Vincere” from Italian director Marco Bellochio is one of the strongest international films of the last few years and chronicles the relationship between a young Benito Mussolini and his unacknowledged wife. Two other titles will be announced shortly.

This year the 6 film pass includes admission to all screenings and invitation to our on stage Saturday evening reception and afternoon coffee breaks. The festival provides opportunity for film lovers to escape for a weekend and meet old friends and new. Passes are still just $100 and are now available.

Full program information will be announced shortly both in local press and at our website aultsvilletheatre.com.

The Aultsville Winter Filmfest is a fundraising effort to support the ongoing maintenance, operation and renovation of Cornwall’s own Aultsville Theatre.
