The Lions Club Bandshell will be transformed into an outdoor theatre on Friday, Aug. 31 for the second Movie in the Park event of the summer.
This free family event will feature the presentation of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax on a 25-foot inflatable screen. The show will start as soon as it is dark enough (approximately 8 pm, weather permitting) and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so an early arrival is recommended. This event was originally slated to take place on August 10th but it was rescheduled due to poor weather.
"We had a great turnout for our outdoor movie in July, and we're hoping for a big crowd again this time around," said Lorne Taillon, Leisure Arts Coordinator.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early as local artists will be showcasing their work prior to the movie, and items on display will be for sale. Vendors will also be on site selling food and drinks. The Cornwall Civic Complex washrooms will remain open for the duration of the movie.
Organizers are reminding movie-goers to dress for the weather and come prepared with a lawn chair or blanket, a flashlight and bug spray.
The outdoor movie is part of the City's Arts in the Park series, and it is sponsored by the United Way, Rachel's Kids and the City of Cornwall. Residents can visit the City website for additional details on the Arts in the Park series.
