There’s a little bit of magic in Cornwall this weekend. The city’s artistic side is surfacing. BBQ season continues with the Cornwall Shrine Club and M&M Meat Shops. 50 years of Conservation is being celebrated. Angele and The Swingin' Devils will be lighting up a night of fine dining and jazz. Scrapbooking goes big to raise money for breast cancer and Fibromyalgia in the Seaway City. Plus, Celtic music will be taking centre stage at St. Columban’s Church.

Magician David Jans will be putting on a mind-blowing show this Sat. night. Your senses will be in a state of shock as he delivers innovative tricks and illusions. The interactive display of magic takes place at Cornwall’s Spotlight Hall and Conference Centre (17369 Cornwall Centre). Focus Art's 9th Annual Juried Art Show will be happening at the Cornwall Public Library this Sat. Go and take a peak at dozens of local artists and their masterpieces. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bring your appetite to a Charity BBQ in support of the Karnak's S.D. & G. Cornwall Shrine Club Patient Transportation Services this Sat. Food will be served from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at M&M Meat Shops (841 Sydney Street, Cornwall).
It's year five for the Agape Centre 'Wine, Dine and All that Jazz Festival.' An evening where giving a little extra, gets those in need a lot in return. The musical guest, 'Angele and The Swingin' Devils,' is rumoured to be jazz at its finest. It takes place Sat., Oct. 5 at the Best Western Parkway Inn, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $85.
The Raisin Region Conservation Authority is celebrating their 50-year milestone. You’re invited this Sat., to fall into nature during the RRCA’s anniversary party with guided hikes, A BBQ, hands-on wildlife demos and an intro into geocaching. It takes place at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area on Boundary Rd., from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Benson Centre will be hopping during the "Wild About Scrapbooking" all-day event. That’s right, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sat., scrapbookers can cut loose during a double fundraiser for breast cancer and Fibromyalgia. On Sun., the Patrons of St. Columban Foundation is presenting a fundraising Celtic concert at 2 p.m. in St. Columban’s Church to raise funds for the restoration work at the historic St. Columban’s Church in Cornwall. The musical entertainment will feature the well-known local band The Brigadoons performing the songs of Scotland, Ireland, and Glengarry County. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door on Oct. 6. Everyone is welcome to attend.
