Live at Lola’s, this month, will be, Dany Laj and The Looks, Saturday, Jan. 18; The Trench Town Duo, on Thursday, Jan. 23; Union Duke will be rocking the annual staff and regulars party, Saturday, Jan 25; and The StandStills will be there on Saturday, Feb 1.
Seaway Winds Concert Band is kicking off its new year with an intensive weekend of reading through 45 selections for year's concerts. Rehearsals begin on Friday, January 31, from 7 to 9 pm and resume the next morning from 10 to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Musicians come from as far as Ottawa and Kingston, said Raymond Lacroix, associate conductor, who explained that the skill-level requires sight-reading from easy to advanced pieces. On the most fabulous St Lawrence Acoustic Stage will be, guitarist extraordinaire, Maneli Jamal, on Saturday, Jan. 25. He is the winner of the 2010 Taylor Guitars Showdown, and third place winner in the 2011 International Guitar Idol competition, among a long list of other accolades.
