CORNWALL, Ontario - A five-piece Cornwall band is making waves in Ottawa's music scene with a live performance that makes going down the rabbit hole a lot more interesting.
From left are Jason Graveley, Andre Piette, and Alison Hudson of Alison Wonderland.
Alison Wonderland, a local high-energy band, has been nominated for best live music act at the inaugural Ottawa Wedding Awards, which takes place on May 28.
Bandmates Alison Hudson, Andre Piette, Jason Gravely, Daryl McGillivray, and Clark Wereley were beaming with pride when they learned they're the only finalists from outside of Ottawa.
"We are honoured to have been nominated," said Hudson, co-lead singer. "If we are fortunate enough to be able to accept this award, weâll be sure to let everyone know where we are from."
Hudson may have been born in Ottawa, but the Team Cornwall team captain considers the Seaway City her home.
Formed in 2012, the band is building a solid reputation for rocking weddings and events in Cornwall, Brockville, and Ottawa. Alison Wonderland will have played five Ottawa gigs this year by the end of May.
But for Alison Wonderland to take home top prize, they need support from their fans and the community. Online voting opened to the public on April 22 and ends on May 13 at www.OttawaWeddingAwards.ca/voting.
âWe have all worked so hard to perfect our show and would really appreciate the support of our hometown fans,â said Piette, co-lead singer and rhythm guitar player.
