Under Gentle Winds, a collection of recent watercolour and acrylic paintings by local husband and wife “plein-air” artists, Alan and Audrey Bain, will be on exhibit at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery until Nov. 13. “As a geologist I spent many years walking the northwoods,” says Alan, who now teaches art at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, “so my painting are distillations of those experiences.” Audrey describes her work as reflecting her response to family ties, social concerns, scenes of nature, images of rural Ontario and the Canadian landscape. The couple have travelled across Canada for inspiration, most recently, several visits to the Algonquin Park region of Ontario.
