The citizens of Cornwall had the opportunity to view the creative and artistic work produced by the Cornwall and District Immigrant Services Agency’s art program “Cool Art by Cool Youth,” which celebrated the end of a three-week exhibition displayed at the Cornwall Public Library. This included the culmination of the artwork children involved in this program produces over the summer. Over 33 beautifully painted dragons “flew” across the ceiling of the library. These cute, funny and sometimes fierce dragons were made from recycled items. They flew over a whale, giraffe, and parrot, which were created and displayed alongside a platypus, Pegasus and several other unique and imaginative creations by the children. The children collectively wrote their own children’s stories and illustrated them with pictures. Seven of these unique storybooks are now available for reading in the Library’s Children Section. The program is one developed for the children of new immigrant families in the Cornwall area to provide them with a safe creative place to explore art and express themselves. Cornwall and District Immigrant Services Agency’s “Cool Art by Cool Youth” program continues in the fall.
