The Aultsville Wednesday Night Film Series continues on January 18th with a screening of the acclaimed American independent film "Take Shelter". The film will screen at Galaxy Cinemas at 7:30pm. Tickets are available in advance at the Civic Complex Box Office (613-938-9400) and at the door night of screening.
"Take Shelter" is a gripping, powerful tale of a man who becomes obsessed with protecting his family from a coming storm that only he seems to be able to foresee. His feelings of dread leave him haunted and questioning his own sanity. Is there really impending doom or is he only projecting his own fears. The film works both as psychological horror and as a dramatic tale of a married couple trying to deal with what may or may not be schizophrenia. The film is directed by Jeff Nichols and stars the Oscar nominated Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Boardwalk Empire) and the much heralded Jessica Chastain (The Help, The Tree of Life). It's a film that challenges the audience to keep up and interpret for themselves what is really happening. Nominated for many year end awards including best picture, actor and supporting actress at the upcoming independent sprit awards.
So take shelter with us January 18th at Galaxy Cinemas for this haunting, unsettling important work from a new voice in American cinema.
Aultsville's Wednesday Night Film Series is a fundraising effort to support the ongoing maintenance, renovation and operation of Cornwall's own Aultsville Theatre. More information about this screening and the impending winter film festival can be found at aultsvilletheatre.com.
