The first Cornwall Kids' Expo kicks off on Saturday, September 27, in salons A, B, and C at the civic complex, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ginny Pereira, owner/operator of Cornwall's Creation Workshop, is the mastermind behind the free, one-stop shop event.
"We moved here six years ago, and I found it hard to find information on events to take the family to," said Pereira. "Cornwall needs this event to highlight all of its great family activities."
The Kids' Expo will host numerous vendors with booths about local youth programs, sports and fitness clubs, businesses and various resources.
Exhibitors include Giroux Sewing Centre, Girl Guides, Caveman Strong, City of Cornwall, and the Ontario Early Years Centre as well as Creation Workshop.
"Maybe more families will make the move here once they see how many great and different things we have to offer," said Pereira.
Meanwhile in Lamoureux Park, the Children's Aid Society will be launching their child abuse prevention campaign with a free BBQ and family-related activities. Donations are welcomed.
Along with the launch, the society will be popping paper bags in a symbolic gesture to break the silence on child abuse. Wear purple and ride Cornwall Transit buses free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
