Straight Talk

Anglo media go after Pauline

Nit-picking exercise

Published on September 6, 2012

Woman effect!

English-language media in Canada have dumped on Pauline Marois.

They noted that Marois has been calling herself the Quebec "Head of State."

So they reminded her that the "Head of State" in Quebec is the Lieutenant-Governor Pierre Duchesne who represents the Queen Elizabeth.

Marois is the "Head of Government" in Quebec.

A lot of former Quebec premiers called themselves "Head of State.'

Nobody complained before now.

But they were all men; now we have the first female premier of Quebec.

So Marois said she is now the "Head of THE State" of Quebec.

Call it a compromise.

Put that in your pipes and smoke it, gentlemen.
