Ground was officially broken on a new Montreal Road development that will eventually see the creation of a seven-story apartment complex.

While crews have been working for some time at the site of what will eventually be known as King's Landing on the former Courtauld's site, dignitaries gathered Monday, sohvels in hand, to make the construction official.

Developer JC Godard, who is also the owner of Tri-Star Living, was on hand, as were official from city hall, to mark the occasion.

"If Riverdale Terrace is any indication this will be a great success," said Mayor bob Kilger, referring to Godard's other development in the city west end.

Upon completion King's Landing will offer 40 executive apartments.

"We are very excited about this project," Godard said earlier this year. "The building will offer luxury-type amenities while at the same time taking advantage of the very best in energy-efficient construction."

The project is expected to take a year to complete.
