The deadline for nominations is fast approaching.

That, according to the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce as it looks ahead to the 2013 Business Excellence Awards and Citizen of the Year banquet.

“The Chamber has already received a number of nominations for the various categories and it’s important that no deserving candidate is missed,” states Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “We want to remind the community that the deadline for nominations is Friday, January 11 and we want to ensure that no one is left out.”

The Awards Banquet is the Chamber’s most distinguished affair and the 2013 affair marks the 25th anniversary of the event.

Business awards include Entrepreneur, Small Business, Economic Impact, Business, and Lifetime Business Achievement. Then there are individual awards such as Above and Beyond, the new, Ambassador award, Breakthrough, and the Dr. Taylor Humanitarian award.

Along with the various business and individual awards, there is the prestigious Citizen of the Year.

“The Citizen award has been bestowed on Cornwall area residents for more than 40 years,” declares Strasser. “It is given annually to someone whose selfless commitment to the community and its people has made Cornwall a better place to work and to live.”

Details of the Awards Banquet can be found on the Chamber’s web site along with nomination forms. Forms may also be picked up at the Chamber office at 113 Second Street East.

“I encourage anyone who knows of a deserving firm or individual to visit www.cornwallchamber.com and complete a nomination. It is a wonderful opportunity for our citizens to salute those in our community who make a positive difference.”
