Cornwall Economic Development will once again be showcasing development opportunities at the Property Management Exposition and Conference, more commonly known as PM Expo. The show takes place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Dec. 2 to 4, 2009. The city has exhibited at the show for the past several years.

With 1,000 exhibits and a robust series of seminars that feature more than 450 speakers, PM Expo brings together real estate, development and construction industry professionals in a once-a-year opportunity to make valuable contacts and learn about new products and best practices for 2009–2010.

The Show is held concurrently with Construct Canada, HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo, Concrete Canada, DesignTrends and the National GreenBuilding Conference.

The Cornwall booth number is 1736.

The dates and hours of PM Expo are • Wednesday, Dec. 2: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Thursday, Dec. 3: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Friday, Dec. 4: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

More than 23,500 visitors will attend PM Expo, including building owners, property managers, interior designers, architects, contractors, engineers, real estate professionals and investors.

Cornwall development opportunities will be exhibited at the show, including brownfield development sites, commercial buildings available for sale or lease, and greenfield development sites in the Cornwall Business Park. Cornwall has a number of advantages when it comes to building and development, not the least of which is the fact that the city does not have development charges and has fully serviced land along Highway 401 for only $20,000/acre.

The Cornwall Business Park is located in the Eastern portion of the city along Canada’s busiest expressway, Highway 401. Canada’s main rail line and fibre optic network bisect the park. At the current time, two major development projects are underway in the Business Park, the construction of a 500,000-square-foot distribution centre to service Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores, and a 30,000-square-foot facility for Service Canada.

In addition to the above, there are several other construction projects currently underway in the city, including the $100-million redevelopment of the Cornwall Community Hospital, a 70,000-square-foot commercial plaza by the Harden Group, a new OPG Visitor Information Centre, development of the Cornwall Lofts, the construction of a new Pizza Hut restaurant and the development of a new multi-use sports facility.

As in past years, members of Team Cornwall will be assisting with manning the booth and walking the show. More than 200 free passes to the show have been mailed out to local businesses and property owners who might find an interest in attending the show and seminars.

Additional free passes are available from Cornwall Economic Development.
