Habitat Seaway Valley is pleased to announce their latest ‘family partner’ for a home to be built in Williamsburg in 2010. They are Amy and Troy White and their three children, Sophia, 6, Savannah, 2, and Jacob, 2 months.
Amy and Troy currently live in Williamsburg. Troy works with concrete products and Amy is a stay-at-home mom. Both Troy and Amy are very active in their community. Troy is an avid sports enthusiast and for several years has worked with the Dundas County Easter Seals Society helping to organize their local ball tournament.
Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide initiative that envisions a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. It helps individuals and families in financially vulnerable situations build and buy quality affordable homes by reducing barriers to homeownership. These barriers are reduced by selling Habitat for Humanity homes with no down payment, no-interest mortgages, payments set at 25% of gross income (principal and taxes) and homeowner training and support services.
Habitat is well known as offering a “hand-up, rather than a “hand-out”. Troy and Amy will donate 500 hours of volunteer work as their down-payment on their home. The building lot for this home was generously donated to Habitat by the Township of South Dundas.
Troy and Amy are very excited about their upcoming journey with Habitat. Before they could only dream of owning their own home. Now, they are about to see their dream become a reality. submitted photo
