The Township of South Stormont held an official opening ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 4, to celebrate the completion of the upgrades to the Long Sault Arena. Work on this project included the addition of two new change rooms with washroom and shower facilities. These improvements respond to minor hockey league requests and give the expanding girls' league a place to change. The governments of Canada and Ontario and the Township of South Stormont have each contributed $126,804 to the project, which has a total eligible cost of $380,412. "Investing in recreational facilities like the Long Sault Arena reiterates our governments commitment to creating jobs and improving Ontario communities," said MP Lauzon. "These much-needed upgrades ensure this key community facility can continue to serve local families and future generations for years to come, so that children and adults alike can stay fit and healthy."
