The McGuinty government has announced some changes to the roster of MPPs serving as parliamentary assistants (PAs) to ministers of the Provincial Cabinet.

Among these changes, Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry MPP Jim Brownell will be assuming the new portfolio of PA to the minster of Consumer Services, the Honourable Ted McMeekin. MPP Brownell has been the PA to the minister of Tourism and had previously served as PA to the minister of Health and Long-Term Care. “I am very much looking forward to the challenges of a new Ministry,” said Brownell. “I will miss the Ministry of Tourism and am proud of the work I have done there, but this will provide me with new opportunities to help the citizens of this province.” “For the past six years, our government has been helping to create jobs, strengthen the economy and improve the public services our families depend on,” said Premier McGuinty. “But there’s still more to do and Jim Brownell in his new role will help us continue building opportunity for Ontario families.”

It is expected to take one to two weeks for the PA transitions to be fully complete.
