The Morrisburg service centre on Highway 401 eastbound between Prescott (Hwy 416) and Cornwall reopened with interim services as of noon on Nov. 28, 2008.

Interim amenities include portable buildings with accessible washrooms, water, telephones and vending machines with food and beverages and separate parking for cars and trucks.

Fuel service will not be available until a new modernized site is fully reopened in 2010.

The new Morrisburg centre as well as 19 other centres over the next few years will be rebuilt to better serve the needs and comfort of today’s travellers. They will continue to provide travelers with a safe place to park and rest, buy fuel and food and use public telephones, washrooms, picnic areas and drinking fountains on a 24-hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, year-round basis. “By renovating and updating these service centres we will provide world-class services to the travelling public and create a positive reflection of Ontario,” said Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MPP Jim Brownell. “Ontario’s new service centres will showcase our hospitality and provide a safe place for travelers to rest, eat and refuel,” said Transportation Minister Jim Bradley.
