CORNWALL, Ontario – An intimate crowd of cosplayers gathered at the Army Navy Air Force Club on Saturday, April 13 to showcase their creativity and talk pop culture.

The Easter Cosplay, hosted by Cutiepiekaruta Cosplay, entailed music, festive snacks and treats, Easter decorations and more for an entrance fee of $5. For an extra fee, attendees could have a photoshoot with Cyberfox007 Photography. Hosted a Halloween event,

“This is our Easter event and we plan to do one again next year,” said host Britteny Bracey. Bracey explained that she has hosted Halloween, soccer and Alice In Wonderland themed cosplay events in the past.

Bracey said that next year she is hoping to host a fantasy land themed gathering, including tropes like Neverland and Narnia.

“This is just something I like to do to get the community together. Even if you don’t have the money to go to bigger events, you can still come here,” said Bracey.

“For people who…want to be able to express themselves and start meeting the cosplay community, it’s easier for them to come to a smaller group rather than run into a big convention. It’s easier to meet people starting small,” she added.

Bracey was happy to see the effort of attendees who made their own costumes, as cosplay offers opportunity for artistry through makeup, fashion, character and more. She is always happy to meet individuals in the community and anyone willing to try cosplay.

Many attendees are looking forward to the upcoming Cornwall and Area Pop Event (CAPE), held at the Benson Centre on April 27 and 28.

Bracey is looking forward to showcasing a female Naruto costume. She encourages anyone who is interested in learning more about cosplay to check out her Facebook or Instagram page, Cutiepiekaruta Cosplay.
