CORNWALL, Ontario – The Kinsmen Club of Cornwall sure know how to make a great first impression.
Just ask Krystal Fontaine and Samantha Bradley.
“I put my groceries through and they paid for it…that’s a great introduction,” said Fontaine, of Lunenberg, as club members Dan Carbonnell, Darryl Adams, and Kerry Adams packed her groceries.
The service club visited No Frills and two Food Basics on Saturday (Feb. 20) to lend a helping hand, and spend $2,100 in gift certificates on unsuspecting customers for the fourth annual ‘National Day of KINdness’ event.
“They took my breath away,” said Bradley, holding back tears, as her son four-year-old son David Turner looked on from the shopping cart. “We really appreciate it. This means a lot, especially since we just hit a big financial bump.”
The volunteer group also offered shoppers free cookies (donated by Allstate Insurance) and coffee (supplied by McDonalds), as various clubs across the country were busy spreading cheer in their communities during the annual event.
“We want to help the community where it matters most,” said Kinsmen member Dan Carbonnell. “National Day of KINdness is another way of giving back to the Corwnall area – one gesture at a time.”
