‘Posing for Paws’ hits the runway Oct. 23

CORNWALL, Ontario – If you’ve got it, why not walk the runway for a worthy cause like the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry branch of the SPCA?

Posing for Paws, the third annual charity fashion show and auction presented by J&A Collision Centre, kicks off at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at the Best Western Parkway Inn in Cornwall. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

The fashion show will feature items from The Squire Shop, Echo Trends, Rookez Edge, as well as a light lunch, live entertainment by local duo ‘Two Dimensions,’ and more. Each guest will receive a complimentary ‘swag bag.’

In its second year, Posing for Paws raised $11,000, compared to $8,500 in 2013.

The SD&G SPCA operates on fundraising initiatives, fees, and donations alone – it receives no government funding whatsoever.

Event co-organizer Christina Russell, SD&G SPCA fundraising committee member, says small fundraisers give the animal shelter an opportunity to engage with new individuals and further educate the community on the importance of animal welfare and the role the SD&G SPCA plays within the community.

“We value the support of our SDG community and strive to make each of our fundraising events successful and unique in order to engage everyone we can,” said Russell.

Tickets can be purchase at Scotiabank Cornwall (960 Brookdale Avenue) and Scotiabank Alexandria (38 Main Street North).
