Christopher Leclair, Cornwall local and runner for city council in the last municipal election, recently held his second annual July food drive fundraiser to benefit Centre 105, a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping our city’s most vulnerable citizens.

“I picked Centre 105 because they are doing a great thing for our city and for those struggling. This service isn’t just for people who are addicted to drugs, or alcohol. It’s also for the people who are homeless in our city,” said Leclair, “When I ran for City Council in 2023, I spoke to all walking life who depend on this breakfast program. I want to give credit to Taylor and his crew; without them people will go hungry and struggle more.”

Leclair told Seaway News that he is grateful to the donors and The Village Diner for making this year’s fundraiser a success. At the end of the fundraiser, 80 boxes of cereal, 25 loaves of bread, 36 eggs, 2 pancake mix, 3 lbs bacon, 2 Palmolive dish soap, about 6 boxes of crackers, honey, a dozen or more canned food, cookies, and 20$ cash were donated to Centre 105.

“Today isn’t about the left or right, or what political party anyone stands for. It’s about making sure people have food on the table and in their stomachs,” said Leclair, ” I was born into poverty and know very well what obstacles hold you back when living in that situation.”
