  • Details : Following its recently-developed joint venture with Fraser Workplace Safety Solutions, Tri-County Literacy Council's (TCLC) first graduates of the newly-expanded Warehouse Worker/Material Handler program report positive effects of the agency’s latest advances. More specifically, not only does this FREE 6-week program include industry-related in-class Essential Skills Training, learners (men and women) also benefit from valuable hands-on experience, due to this partnership. This practical experience leads to certification in Forklift Operation, Propane Handling, and WHMIS. In total, graduates of this course build their employment portfolio significantly by acquiring certification in the following four areas: 1. Essential Skills Training: Warehouse Worker / Material Handler (Tri-County Literacy Council) 2. Certificate of Completion: Forklift Training (Fraser Workplace Safety Solutions) 3. Certificate of Completion: WHMIS (Fraser Workplace Safety Solutions) 4. Propane Handling certification ID card (Fraser Workplace Safety Solutions) These valuable credentials make learners stand out from other job applicants, when applying for employment (as reported by interviewees - some having secured employment). In addition, local businesses (Benson and SCM/Walmart warehouses), in partnership with TCLC, guarantee an interview to qualified graduates of the program giving them a head start in their job search.
