Guiding Mosaic 2010

Guelph Lake Conservation Area in   Ontario where a group of local Girl Guides, Pathfinders and Guiders celebrated the 100th anniversary of Girl Guides in Canada. This was an amazing opportunity for more than 2500 girls and women from across Canada and 30 countries around the world to come together, explore, learn and make new friends. Camp activities included rock climbing, zip-lining, high ropes, snorkelling, African drumming, and participating in a live chat with the International Space Station! A guest appearance by Theo Tams of Canadian Idol and the opportunity to meet him and get his autograph was a highlight for the campers. Local girls attended out trips to Casa Loma, Niagara Falls, Biggerman’s Park, and the Great Toronto Scavenger Hunt!  Trading patches and swaps was an activity enjoyed by all, and numerous City of Cornwall and Canada flag pins were distributed to other international campers.

Locally, the Guiding program is offered to all girls and women aged 5-105!

The Spark (ages 5-6) program emphasizes friendship and learning about the community, while also challenging each girl to share her skills and talents, to develop new interests, to try new activities and adventures.

The Brownie (ages 7-8) program promotes fun and adventure, encouraging girls to explore their own interests and participate in the life of their communities.

The Guide (ages 9-12) program is designed to help girls develop their life skills through enjoyable experiences and challenges that work toward the four program areas:  You in Guiding, You and Others, Discovering You and Beyond You.

The Pathfinder (ages 12-15) program of Listen, Learn, Lead, and Live focuses on new experiences, good friendships and good times through the planning and implementation of Unit and personal goals.

The Ranger (ages 15-17+) program theme of You Lead the Way requires completion of challenges through learning, sharing and participating as leadership skills are developed!
