A local animal activist has submitted a project to the Pepsi Refresh Everything Challenge to benefit the Cornwall Branch of the OSPCA.
Inspired by her cat, Puddin’, a stray, which she rescued from certain death, Stephanie Carpenter is hoping to garner enough support through community on-line voting to win $10,000 to support other stray cats in the area.
Should her project win, Carpenter says that the money will go towards the spaying or neutering of 100 stray cats that come in to our local OSPCA. This will in turn lower the cost of adopting them out to good families. “This will be a win-win on all fronts, for the cats, the families and the shelter too,” said Carpenter.
The only such entry for Cornwall and currently top seven in her category, Carpenter is looking to the community for their support. It’s as simple as signing up and casting your votes. “You can vote every day,” she says. The top five vote getters will advance to a second round. Follow the direct link to the project at http://www.refresheverything.ca/saveourstrayscornwall. The last day to vote for this round is February 28.
