Cornwall put one foot in front of the other and raised nearly $20,000 during the annual Terry Fox Run on the weekend.
Officials with the run raised $19,213 during the Sunday event.
“I never set a goal,” said event organizer Josée Sauvé. “I always just want the community to do whatever they can do to support us and if we beat last year’s total by even one dollar, then in my mind, it’s a tremendous success."
She got what she asked for, as the 2012 event raised about $200 more than last year.
"I am honoured and touched by the support, but not surprised. Cornwall is a generous community,” said Sauve.
Some 320 took part in the event this year, five more than in 2011.
Next year's run is set for Sept. 15.
