More than a dozen residents of the Cotton Mill condos in the city's east end continued the philanthropy they began earlier this year and have made a dent in the need for Christmas toys this year.

The 'Cotton Mill Pickers' - as they are known - collected 75 toys for Sparky's Toy Drive this year. The annual toy drive is organized by the Cornwall Fire Department.

There was a gathering in the condo belonging to Mike and Lynn Poulet Saturday evening to collect the toys and officially donate them to Sparky.

"We're trying to do as much as possible for Christmas," said Poulet. "We want to get a positive image out there about the Cotton Mill (building)."

Sparky's Toy Drive has been an annual event in Cornwall where local firefighters collect toys to provide them to the less-fortunate in the city.

Earlier this year the Cotton Mill Pickers made a sizable charitable donation after competing in the dragonboat races at Cornwall Waterfest.
