The St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital will be hosting its first annual Paws for the Cause BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, June 1.
All proceeds will be donated to the local Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). An organization dedicated to public education and awareness for the health and welfare of animals in the SDG area.
Now, that's the 'cause,' but what about the 'paws'? The answers easy: canine and feline nail trims will be offered for a minimum donation of $10.
"Pets play a role in everybody's life," said Dr. Ashley Virag, a lead veterinarian at the animal hospital. "It will be a day for families and people in the community to have fun outside, while raising funds for the OSPCA."
Families are invited to join in on the festivities, which will include face painting, raffles for prizes, and a 50/50 draw.
"With your support, proceeds of this event will allow the OSPCA to continue to provide abandoned or in need animals with food, shelter and the healthcare they require," said Sarah Hay-McBean, an office manager at the animal hospital.
The non-profit event will be held in the St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital parking lot, located at 435 Pitt Street, and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
