The PAWfect Car Wash in support of the OSPCA's SDG branch is taking place this Saturday.
The PAWfect Car Wash is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Pro Oil Change's parking lot.
Proceeds from each $10 wash goes directly to the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
"We invite everyone to take a few minutes this weekend and pop in to get their car washed by our enthusiastic volunteers," Christina Russell, local SPCA fundraising committee member.
Last year, the event raised $1,020 to help with emergency vet cases, and supply the animal shelter with some added funds to purchase wish list items.
The SD&G SPCA operates on fundraising initiatives, fees, and donations alone - it receives no government funding whatsoever.
Russell says small fundraisers, such as the car wash, give the annimal shelter an opportunity to engage with new individuals and further educate the community on the importance of animal welfare and the role the shelter plays within the community.
In July 2011, the SD&G SPCA hosted its first car wash in Alexandria, which raised $500.
"We value the support of our SDG community and strive to make each of our fundraising events successful and unique in order to engage everyone we can," she said Russell.
'No Hot Pets' key-chains will also be up for grabs while supplies last.
The campaign, created by the Ontario SPCA, aims to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.
Pro Oil Change is located at 1610 Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall.
