CORNWALL, Ontario – It’s an early Christmas gift for the United Way of SDG to help support the various agencies that rely on their funding.

County staff set a month-long goal of raising $3,070 with Halloween as their deadline.

The campaign has been ongoing for four years. And in light of the United Way’s milestone anniversary, $70 was added to their usual goal.

SDG’s corporate campaign ultimately generated $7,850 ($4,250, in an addition to $3,600 pledged previously by Warden Duncan).

“I would say I’m surprised, but the dedication and sense of community held by our staff is second to none,” said Duncan.

CAO Tim Simpson added: “The growth in support over the last few years has been impressive to oversee.”

The United Way’s annual campaign to raise $707,070 runs until Friday, December 19.

“I’ve always believed strongly that the United Way belongs to all of us, from Winchester to Cornwall to Alexandria,” said campaign chair Nolan Quinn. “On behalf of the United Way, thank you for helping us spread that message across the Counties.”
