Chief Librarian Dawn Kiddell and Cornwall Transit Manager, Len Tapp sign a memorandum of understanding at the official launch of the 2009 edition of Cornwall Public Summer Read to Ride Program. This year marks the second year the Library and Cornwall Transit join forces to help promote literacy and a greener environment in our city. Kids up to 13 years of age participating in the Library’s Summer Reading Program get a special library pass giving them access to free bus transportation all summer. The program was so successful last year that other Ontario communities are now emulating it. Library and Transit representatives as well as other Read to Ride sponsors pose behind one of the 10 bicycles to be won by lucky participants in the Summer Reading Club during the closing party at the Cornwall Civic Complex on August 19.
