DeMONTIGNY - Stephen (Steve) Matthew

Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. He was 47. He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 21 years, Theresa Lucille (Michaud) DeMontigny. Loving father of Taylor and Justin (Kelsey) who are both still at home. Cherished son of Mrs. Mary (Robinson) Mullin (Michael). Survived by two sisters, Debi Archambault (Larry Regnier) and Tammy DeMontigny (Greg Simpson) and two step-brothers, Todd and Sean Mullin. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt St., on Tuesday from 2-4 and from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 9:30 am until time of service. Funeral Liturgy, Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the chapel of the funeral home at 10:30 am. Rite of Committal to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. MALLETTE - Germaine

At the Hospice at May Court in Ottawa, on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Germaine Marie-Claire Mallette (Valade) of Ottawa, formerly of Cornwall; age 69 years. Beloved wife of Raymond Mallette. Loving mother of Debbie Lemos of Los Angeles, Valerie Bell-Roth (Gary) of Manotick, and Joanne Gruttner (Michael) of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren. Dear daughter of the late Stephen Valade and the late Catherine Billard. Dear sister of St. Annette Valade (R.H.S.J.) of Kingston. Predeceased by seven brothers, Albert, Victor, Mathias, Wilfrid, Raymond, Rheal, and Lionel, and by two sisters, Leona Gadbois and Rita Leduc. Resting at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh St. W., 613-932-8482, from 2 pm Monday. Funeral on Tuesday, Sept. 22 for Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columban’s Church at 11 am. Cremation. The family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, and from 9 am until the time of funeral on Tuesday. Germaine spent 43 years working as an executive assistant to various federal government departments as well as 10 years with the Roman Catholic School Board in Ottawa before returning to Cornwall where she was employed by the Bishop as his executive assistant. BLANCHARD - Cecile (nee Moise)

Mrs. Cecile Blanchard passed away at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at the the age of 86 years young. Wife of thee late Maurice Sr. (deceased 1984). She was a longtime resident of Daly Street in Cornwall. Exceptionally devoted mother of Robert Bob (Wanda) and the late Maurice Jr. (Madeleine). Her guidance will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Perry, Jeffery, Kimberly, Kevin, Natalie and their spouses. Proud great-grandmother to Taylor, James, Sydney, Cameron and Quincy. After a year filled with physical challenges, Cecile was prepared to be reunited with her husband, her parents, siblings, on great-grandson Nicolas (deceased 2005), and most of all, her treasured son Maurice Jr. (deceased 1996). Her wit, wisdom and support will be greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing she is now resting at peace with her strength and independence replenished. Cecile was very appreciated of the Catholic services offered to her daily at St. Joseph’s Villa by Father Dumoulin and the volunteers. To honour Cecile’s previously expressed wishes, there was no visitation. A private family service was held in Nativity Parish Cemetery. MacGREGOR - Verna

Peacefully at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, Elmira, ON on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Verna Isabel MacGregor (nee Blair) of Elmira, formerly of Maxville; born Sept. 20, 1917. Beloved wife of the late Clarence MacGregor. Loving mother of Sheryl Bertrand (Doug) of Elmira, Garry MacGregor of Duncan, BC and Winona Eles (Jim) of Stouffville. Proud grandmother of Rev. Blair Bertrand (Vivian), Ian Bertrand (Riann), Kate MacGregor, Heather MacGregor, Colin Eles, Robin Eles and great-grandmother of Garrett and Sage Bertrand. Dear sister of Eileen Scott of Pembroke, the late Keith Blair and sister-in-law of Lorna Winter (Gordon) of Maxville. Daughter of the late Hugh Blair and the late Catherine Blair (nee McDermid). McELHONE - Agatha (nee Leblanc)

Mrs. Agatha McElhone at the Cornwall Community Hospital McConnell site in the Janet Macdonell Pavilion wing on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence “Macky” McElhone. Loving mother of Donald McElhone (Margaret), Dartmouth, NS; Mildred “Punnie” Buiting (Ricky), Long Sault; and Lloyd McElhone of Cornwall. Sadly missed by her seven grandchildren Ricky, Derek, Michael, Lesley, Kayla and chosen grandchildren Kelly and Krystal; and by two great-grandchildren Jesse and Adian. Predeceased by her parents John and Florence (Rochelle) Leblanc; brothers Charlie, Peter, Robert and Rodolph Leblanc; sisters Pearl Henderson (late Sandy), and Mildred Dupras (late Floyd).
