The Lancaster and District Curling Club held their annual Open House last Friday, Oct. 16 and welcomed members new and old, dignitaries and friends. The Club has undergone some major renovations over the summer and President Elaine Pye invited everyone to view the photo gallery of the construction that took place. The club now has a new concrete floor, refurbished foundation and walls. A new compressor and chiller will be installed this week and the ice surface will be ready for the Curling Clinics taking place Oct. 26, 27 and 28 and the Opening Bonspiel Oct. 29, 30 and 31. Emcee Barry Millett outlined the extent of the renovations and thanked the Trillium Fund, the Recreation Infrastructure Canada program, Glengarry Township and members for their funding and support. More than 70 guests were treated to an array of tasty treats and wine provided compliments of Peller Estates. Special guests were also on hand to share in the celebrations, including MP Guy Lauzon; MPP Jim Brownell and his executive assistant, Andrew Campbell; councillors Bill MacKenzie, John Warden, Ian McLeod and Joyce Gravelle; and Trillium Fund Representative Joanne Haley of Glengarry Township.
