Cornwall and District Immigrant Services Agency (DCISA) launched their new Settlement Services program for immigrants in the community, which will run every Monday from 4 to 6 pm in the computer lab on the main level at the Cornwall Public Library. “This is a great time of day for parents to come with their children who can do homework or do research while they are there,” explains Carmen Romo, outreach and settlement worker, who will be on hand to provide supplemental information regarding a variety of social subjects including health, housing and sponsorship, among others. “It's really hard for a whole family to adjust to the change,” says Romo, who herself faced challenges when she immigrated from Mexico over a decade ago, regarding the benefits this program offers.
