Ontario Power Generation (OPG) will be closing the bike and recreational path at the end of Second Street West for about one year, starting May 4 to allow for construction of the new St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre near the R.H. Saunders Generating Station.

For public safety, the path will be closed between the security gate and Lock 19 for the duration of the construction of the Visitor Centre building. This section will be designated a construction zone to allow for truck and vehicle traffic. A diversion route through the parking lot, along Second Street West and across Lock 19 will be clearly marked with signs.

A sod-turning ceremony will be held in May, with the centre expected to open in 2010.
