The SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation (SD&G CFDC) will accept applications under the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) until January 15, 2010 for projects due to start on or after April 1, 2010.

The EODP is a Government of Canada/FedDev initiative that promotes rural socio-economic development in Eastern Ontario, leading to a more competitive and diversified regional economy, and contributing to the successful development of businesses, job opportunities and sustainable, self-reliant communities.

The program supports business and skills development, innovation and information communication technology, community capacity building, local initiatives, retention and attraction of youth, and access to capital. EODP funding is delivered by 15 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Eastern Ontario.

The SD&G CFDC has earmarked $516,000 for the region through the 2010 EODP. Community Economic Development Projects Manager Terry Besner says, “In 2009, over 120 inquiries came in and 66 proposals were considered for EODP funding. In total, 46 projects received approval. These projects then leveraged more than $4.7 million in additional funds.” The EODP the application guidelines are available on our website www.sdgcfdc.on.ca, you can also contact Terry Besner at (613) 932-4333 ext.24, email at tbesner@sdgcfdc.on.ca.
