A Cornwall man who kept police at bay for more than 10 hours Wednesday now faces a mulitutde of charges.
The 43-year-old individual was already bound by a probation order with conditions to keep the peace, not consume alcohol, and stay away from his 37-year-old common-law wife, should he be intoxicated.
Police allege that on May 18 he got into an altercation with his wife and assaulted her.
It is further alleged that on June 13 he again assaulted his wife and damaged their residence while drunk. He faces two counts of domestic assault, domestic mischief and six counts of breaching a probation order. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Cornwall police successfully concluded their investigation following a ten-hour stand-off with the man who barricaded himself in his home. Police had cordoned off a section of the city as a result of an incident that took place in the area of the 800 Bedford Street.
