The roar of jet engines will fill the skies above Cornwall for a short period of time Canada Day.

Local MP Guy Lauzon announced Thursday the Snowbirds, Canada’s famed aerobatic air force squadron, will do a flyby of the Seaway City on Canada Day.

The jets are expected to sream overhead sometime between 9:30 and 10 a.m. July 1.

“It is a great honour and an excellent addition to our July 1 activities to have the Snowbirds pass through Cornwall,” said Lauzon, who also serves as chair of the Cornwall Canada Day Committee. “We are very fortunate to have the Department of National Defense accommodate our request as the squadron is busy this time of the year, especially with the events in the nation’s capital that day.”
