Lights and power in a large swath of the city went out Tuesday evening after some wildlife got into a Cornwall Electric substation.

At around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday the power to some 2,500 Cornwall Electric customers, including many downtown, was cut.

Utility officials say wildlife got into a substation on Adulphus Street, which led to the outage.

Power was cut until nearly 7 p.m., before being restored.
