Residents are invited to enjoy a movie under the stars on Saturday at the Lions Club Bandshell in Lamoureux Park as part of the City of Cornwall's Arts in the Park series.
This free family event will feature the presentation of the animated hit movie Puss in Boots on a 25-foot inflatable screen. The show will start as soon as it is dark enough (approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting) and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so an early arrival is recommended.
"We hosted our first outdoor movie last summer, and the response was great," said Lorne Taillon, the city's leisure arts co-ordinator. "It's a great way for families to spend some quality time together."
Local artists will be set up showcasing their works before the movie and items on display will be for sale. Food vendors will also be on site selling food and drinks, and the Cornwall Civic Complex washrooms will remain open for the duration of the movie.
Organizers are reminding movie-goers to dress for the weather and come prepared with a lawn chair or blanket, a flashlight and bug spray.
The event is sponsored by the United Way, Rachel's Kids and the City of Cornwall.
A second outdoor movie is scheduled for Aug. 10, and the movie selection will be announced shortly. Residents can visit the city website for additional details on the Arts in the Park series.
A full listing of 2012 performers and dates can be found on the Recreation section of the city website.
