Approximately 30 scrapbooking enthusiasts participated in a 12-hour Scrap-a-thon, at the Royal Canadian Legion.
This is their reward for seven months of fundraising, said event organizer, Tammy Murphy, who organized this third annual event which will benefit Hospice Cornwall.
Participants, who this year collectively raised in the neighbourhood of $25,000, were treated to lunch, supper and snacks thanks to the generosity of community sponsors. Participant Sylvie Tyo raised the most funds with $2,145.
Murphy partnered her passion for scrapbooking with her gratitude for Hospice Cornwall following her father’s four-month stay as he battled cancer, last March, for this fundraiser.
“I knew I had to do something for them after his stay there. It was such an exceptional experience. We’re so fortunate to have that facility in our community. For him to be there and for us to be able to go visit him anytime, it was a really big relief to our family to be able to come and go out of that facility.”
