Tracy Pare and Marty Villeneuve are huge hockey fans - she is a die-hard follower of the Ottawa Senators and he lives and breathes the Montreal Canadiens.
So when it came time to plan their upcoming wedding, it only seemed natural that hockey would be a huge part of the ceremony - but no one ever thought it would be this huge.
The happy couple are tying the knot Aug. 25 at the Benson Centre in Cornwall. They will meet at centre ice and be wed by an officiant from the city clerk's office.
In an interview the couple said it's their hope that guests at the wedding, about 140, will be wearing their hockey jerseys.
"Believe it or not, this was her idea," Villeneuve said in an interview. "Not many people do this sort of thing. So I think that will make it even more special."
Pare said she's always wanted to do things in an unusual way.
"We wanted to do something no else has done," she said.
No kidding. Norma Lefebvre, who manages event booking at the Benson Centre confirmed the wedding is the first of its kind at the new facility.
The couple willl exchange vows at 4 p.m. on pad one at the Benson Centre.
