The Cornwall Community Hospital board has issued a release detailing its plans to sell its Second Street property.
Hospital officials have indicated the property on Second Street should be vacant by the middle of 2014, and it has begun the process to dispose of the facilities at that location by hiring a real estate firm to list the site.
"The board and administration of the Cornwall Community Hospital have worked diligently since amalgamation to meet all the directions issued by the (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care)," hospital board chair Helene Periard said in a release. "We are excited to move forward with this final phase of the consolidation process."
In 2003 the province ordered that the sites of both the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Cornwall General Hospital be amalagamted into one site on McConnell Avenue.
The ministry also direced that the Second Street site evetually be disposed of. Cornwall's Re/Max office will handle the sale for the property, however a search of the company's website could not find details of the listing.
