South Nation ConservationAuthority believes some low-lying areas within the watershed could experience some flooding this weekend as temperatures across the area rise dramatically.

Environment Canada is forecasting 12 degress Saturday and six on Sunday, with rain possible on both days.

The forecasted weather will cause snow to melt and  will increase river levels and flows throughout the South Nation watershed.

Ice in smaller watercourses may break up and flow downstream, accumulating in culverts and possibly leading to localized high water levels.

South Nation officials are warning residents to stay away from rivers as the weather may rapidly increase river flows, cause slippery river banks, and weaken ice cover.  Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.

Temperatures are expected to return to normal Monday.
