City council will meet publicly with representatives from the Canada Border Services Agency Monday to hear what the federal agency has planned in the short-term for its location in Cornwall.
While it's unlikely the CBSA will divulge much in the way of plans for their permanent home at the local border crossing, Mayor Bob Kilger said earlier the meeting will focus on the agency's "second-generation, temporary" home which will be created to coincide with the opening of the new low-level bridge in Cornwall.
The new bridge, already well into its construction spanning the northern branch of the St. Lawrence River, is expected to be ready for use by 2014, with it's base at the bottom end of Brookdale Avenue where it meets Water Street.
Kilger said the city is still advocating for CBSA to locate its permanent home outside city limits.
"We still feel the port of entry should be on the American side," he said in an earlier interview. There has been little indication how receptive CBSA and its American counterparts would be to such a move.
