A supply agreement has been with a major power utility that is building a sizeable solar panel facility in South Glengarry.
Canadian Solar Solutions will supply 42,000 modules that will help make up the utility-scale solar power project that is located north of County Road 19 in South Glengarry, near Martintown.
The facility will produce as much as 14,000 megawatts of electricity a year and it is anitcipated the project will have a lifespan of up to 35 years, says a report on a Algonquin Power's website.
"Algonquin Power is known for building sustainable, long-term renewable energy projects. We are proud that they chose to build their latest project with Canadian Solar modules," said Shawn Qu, CEO of Canadian Solar.
Construction on the power project is slated to begin later this year, and it is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2013.
Algonquin produces electricity from a range of renewable power sources for supply across North America.
