New boardwalk material and viewing areas will be added to Cooper Marsh thanks to some federal government funding.
MP Guy Lauzon has announced a little more than $125,000 will be spent
As part of the Government’s Economic Action Plan 2012, Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry today announced more federal funding through the CIIF program.
“I am proud to see my community benefit from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund,” said MP Lauzon. “This investment at Cooper Marsh will help create jobs and growth and will support the prosperity of South Glengarry and the City of Cornwall for years to come. This venue is great for promoting tourism, our environment, and healthy active living. It is a solid long term investment that will ensure this continues for years to come.”
The Government of Canada is providing up to $125,726 for Cooper Marsh Conservators Inc. to renovate and expand their outdoor infrastructure. This includes the replacement of boardwalks and building of new viewing platforms.
Through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, the Government of Canada has committed to supporting communities and creating jobs through repairs and improvements to existing community facilities over the next two years.
Two further CIIF funding announcements will be announced in the coming weeks.
