A new chief of staff has been selected at the Cornwall Community Hospital.
Dr. Lorne Scharf will assume his new responsibilities March 1.
Scharf has been part of the hospital team since 2001, and has worked in many departments including head of the emergency department and has also filled the role of medical director of quality.
The Harvard graduate emphasized that he has many ideas for the future of the hospital.
“My vision for the Cornwall Community Hospital is that we should be among the highest performing community hospitals in the province," he said. "Pulling together patient satisfaction, operational efficiency, and good clinical outcomes will be the medical and quality challenge over the next ten years.
"I believe that every employee and every doctor at our hospital shares this quality vision, and the leadership challenge is to influence their professional behaviours in the direction that contributes most to our organizations as a whole.”
The chief of staff plays a key role at the hospital working with the medical staff and other health-care professionals to ensure quality health services are provided to meet community needs.
