Cornwall police were called to city hall Monday night to remove a man from the council chambers after he refused to change his t-shirt.
The man, who operates a website in Cornwall that often posts items related to community events, was asked by Mayor Bob Kilger to change his t-shirt which contained what the mayor felt was an offensive image. His likeness was, apparently, featured on a milk carton.
When the man refused, Kilger contacted city police via an emergency button he has under his desk.
"He's going to be removed," he said while reaching under his desk to activate the emergency alarm.
Before long stomping boots could be heard coming up the stairs at city hall and a police officer appeared in the council chambers.
The man had been offering insults at some of the council members, including the mayor, before police arrived.
When the police approached the man, he asked: "What's the charge?"
The police officer responded with: "He's asking you to leave and you're trespassing.
"We can speak outside."
The man could be heard arguing with police outside the council chambers after the meeting began.
There are provisions under the Public Works Protection Act which allow for expulsions from municipally-owned buildings.
