CORNWALL, Ontario - Cornwall firefighters were kept busy at lunch Monday, after a car burst into flames in a Brookdale Avenue parking lot.
Witnesses said a female driver started the car and the engine compartment was quickly covered in smoke and flames.

Firefighters had the blaze out in short order, and had to work hard to get the hood of the vehicle pried open.
Eventualy a hydraulic apparatus was used to pry the hood open, allowing easier access for a fire hose.
Onlookers gathered outside PetSmart and Winners in the complex along the northern stretch of Brookdale Avenue.
Tow truck operatos were waiting for firefighters to complete their work before removing the charred vehicle.
