CORNWALL, Ontario - Community stakeholders are gathering next week to hammer out a strategy to combat poverty - and they want to hear from people who have actually struggled to put food on the table.
A poverty working group created by the Social Development Council of SD and G is convening the Community Voice sessions at Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School March 20 and 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. There meetings will take place in English and French, respectively.
"Community Voices SDG is about you having your say about what living in poverty means to you," said Social Development Council director Alex de Wit. "We will be asking community members to share their thoughts on issues surrounding poverty and related topics in our community.
"We are looking for community members who are concerned about poverty or who have lived experience with matters concerning food security, homelessness and social inclusion."
The event is open to all member of the public.
